CREATIVE SEASCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP IN NORTH WALES
The coastal region of Anglesey / Ynys Môn is an island in Wales off the mainland's northwest coast. A region that has been declared an area of outstanding natural beauty and is considered to be one of the best landscape photography locations in the UK.
Surrounded by 125 miles of stunning coastline, beaches are something that Anglesey does extremely well. From long sandy stretches, rugged cliffs to more intimate bays. All with the breath-taking views of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia National Park). It is a wondrous place of unparalleled beauty that inspires and appeals to all the senses.
In Anglesey and other parts of the north Wales coast, you will experience varied landscapes. From beautiful beaches to craggy cliffs with fascinating geology, and a wonderful heritage and history.
Join Shona and Eugene for 4 days of visionary inspiration, exploring intimate abstracts, vast seascapes and more creative photography techniques using long exposures and intentional camera movement.
Both Shona and Eugene are deeply influenced by the sea and translate this in their own unique ways. This offers a unique opportunity to discover how to use a variety of creative styles in your photography.
Shona conveys a sense of emotional depth through her painterly style, taking in vast and minimal scenes. With inspiration taken from contemporary art and abstract minimalism she uses intentional camera movement (ICM) to distil the often-complex landscape and translate it into her vision. Her portfolio is truly breathtaking!
At the coast, while still photographing a range of scenes and subjects, Eugene is inherently drawn to the smaller details that are often hidden from sight or don't immediately meet the eye. Having lived in North Wales for 15 years, and with a background in natural science, he will guide us to the best and more remote locations, each ripe with creative opportunities. Early springtime offers one of the best times to visit, allowing us to watch nature awakening with colour, sound, and renewed energy. A season of beauty and wonder.

Your Workshop Leaders
Eugene Theron
Originally from South Africa, Eugene currently lives in north Wales, pretty much on the doorstep of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park/Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri. Full of dramatic mountain landscapes, woodland, waterways and rugged coastlines. An amazing place to be a photographer who loves nature, the landscape and some climbing too.
Most of Eugene's work focusses on the areas close to him but his desire to travel and discover new places has taken him to many other places. The mountains of Scotland and the vast open landscapes of southern Africa hold a special place. New destinations inspire creative thought and can give new perspectives of how to shoot in your local landscape.
Eugene excels technically, with the camera being the perfect tool to translate his visions into a physical manifestation, expressing his creativity, allowing the viewer to step into his mind and see what he felt.
Shona Perkins
Shona is a Scottish Photographer, specialising in Seascape and ICM Photography. Heavily influenced by contemporary art and abstract minimalism, Shona has spent the past few years developing her passion for intentional camera movement (ICM photography).
Technique is extremely important to Shona and whilst ICM photography demonstrates a certain creative freedom and experimentation, Shona applies a considered, focussed and disciplined approach to her work ensuring the best results are achieved in camera. Often described as creating a sense of calm through her imagery, Shona manages to capture emotional depth, solitude, tranquillity and haunting beauty in her work, all whilst maintaining her distinctive painterly style.
Known as an inspirational leader and speaker, Shona also has a wealth of experience in coaching, mentoring and developing teams and loves nothing more than helping people reach their full potential.
